HEART CONDITIONS
When it comes to dosing for heart conditions, we recommend sticking with the typical dosing recommendations found on the product guide page or by following the instructions below.
Please note that if your animal has a sensitivity to MCT oil (fractionated coconut oil) or has issues with their pancreas, your animal may require different dosing instructions. While MCT oil is considered a safe/better alternative for animals with pancreatitis, if either of these statements is true for your animal, please contact us directly for more information.
Cats
-
We recommend cats start with the 100mg or 150mg bottles (depending on their weight - click here for more information) and administer 1/8 -1/4 (.25mL) of the dropper full, twice a day for 3-4 days. Monitor for signs of improvement.
-
No improvement: Raise the level by 1/8 dropper and give once a day, for another 3 days. If still no change, increase by another 1/8 dropper and again monitor. Continue slowly raising until the required results are present.
-
Improvement: On day 4 you can drop the dosage down to once a day for another few days. In another 4-5 days, drop the dosage by decreasing by 1/8 of the dropper to every 2-3 days. You'll know if you need to continue with the once a day dosage or if once every few days or if once a week is enough for your pet.
-
No improvement: Raise the level by 1/8 dropper and give once a day, for another 3 days. If still no change, increase by another 1/8 dropper and again monitor. Continue slowly raising until the required results are present. Do not exceed the daily limit of 2mg/kg
-
The dosage will differ with each cat. Some cats need the drops once a day, some every 2-3 days, and some are good with once a week. No one knows your fur baby as you do and you'll know how often you'll need to give it to them.
Dogs
-
When it comes to dosing, we always recommend that the animals begin with roughly 0.1mg/kg, twice a day, Monitor for relief. If more is needed slowly work their way up by adding 1/8 -1/4 of the dropper every 4th day. Do not exceed the daily limit of 1mg/kg.
-
Please note that every animal has a "sweet spot" or an amount of the oil that best suits them. To determine this, we rely on the pet parents to monitor their fur babies for side effects and to know when the desired effect has been achieved. While you are increasing your dog through various levels, if you feel like they are doing better, you can stop increasing their dosage and stay at the level you feel is working the best.
